The things most people want to know before they order.
Is there a subscription or any hidden fees?
No. You pay once for the tag and that's it — the profile, editing it, and every tap by a finder are free, forever. There is nothing to cancel because there is nothing recurring.
Does it work for cats as well as dogs?
Yes. WiseTag works for any pet that wears a collar or harness — cats, dogs, and anyone else with a neck to hang it from. The profile has a species field, so the finder always knows who they're looking at.
When can I actually start using it?
The moment you order. Your setup email arrives right away, so you can build your pet's profile before the tag is even in the post. When the tag lands on your doormat, you just attach it — everything is already live.
I have more than one pet — how does that work?
Each pet gets their own tag and their own profile. You manage all of them from one account, in one dashboard — so order a tag per pet and you're covered.
What if I change my mind, or the tag arrives faulty?
Changed your mind? You have 14 days from the day the tag arrives to send it back for a full refund — no reason needed. And if a tag is ever faulty or stops working, we replace it free and cover the return postage. Read the full returns policy →

What it is, what it isn't, and why there's nothing to charge.
Is this a GPS tracker?
No — and that's deliberate. GPS trackers need charging every few days plus a pricey subscription, and they only help after your pet is already missing. WiseTag is a smart ID tag: the moment someone finds your pet, they can call or text you within seconds. No battery, nothing to fail on the day it matters.
Does the tag need charging or batteries?
Never. The chip inside is powered by the phone that taps it — the same technology as contactless payment cards. There is nothing to charge, nothing to switch on and no battery to die.
Will it stop working over time?
There are no batteries and no moving parts, so there's nothing to wear down. And because the tag only points to your pet's profile, it never goes out of date — you update the profile, and the same tag keeps working for years.
Which phones can read it?
Any modern iPhone or Android — if a phone can pay by card in a shop, it can read the tag with the same tap. And every tag also carries a short printed code, so even the oldest smartphone can open the profile by typing it on our site.

Two minutes, one form, no app.
Do I need to download an app?
No. Everything — setting up, editing, and what the finder sees — happens in the web browser that's already on your phone. Nothing to install, ever, for you or for them.
How long does setup take?
About two minutes. You fill in your pet's name, add a photo and your phone number, and you're done. Everything else is optional and can be added whenever you like.
What can I put on the profile?
More than you'd think: photo, breed, a friendly greeting, their story, allergies, medication and care notes, a reward for safe return, a backup contact, your email and home area — and you choose which buttons a finder sees. See everything you can add →
What if I change my number or move house?
Log in, edit the profile, done. Changes go live instantly and the physical tag never needs replacing or re-writing. This is the whole point — an engraved tag is out of date the day your number changes; a WiseTag never is.
Do I need to create an account first?
No — your account is created as part of activating your tag, in the same two minutes. There's no separate sign-up to do beforehand.

You decide what the world sees. Always.
Is my home address shown publicly?
Only what you choose to share. A town or neighbourhood is plenty for a finder to know your pet is local — and if you leave the field blank, nothing is shown at all.
Who can see my pet's profile?
Only someone with your pet's tag or its short code — in practice, the person standing next to your pet. The profile isn't listed anywhere or searchable on our site.
Is my phone number visible to anyone who taps?
You're in control. You choose whether finders can call you, text you, or save your contact — and you can switch any of those buttons off at any time. Show as much or as little as you're comfortable with.
Can I change my mind about what's shown?
Any time. Every field and every button is editable from your dashboard, and changes take effect the moment you save.

What does the finder actually see?

What if the finder is shy or doesn't know what to say?
We thought of that. The Text button comes with a pre-written message — something like "Hi! I'm with Spotty right now — where shall we meet?" — so even the most nervous finder only has to press send.
Does the finder need an app or an account?
No. They tap the tag (or type its code on our site) and the profile opens straight in their browser. No download, no sign-up, no barrier between your pet and a phone call home.
Can I offer a reward?
Yes — add a reward to the profile and it's shown front and centre, impossible to miss. A little extra motivation for a safe return.
What if the tag is lost or damaged?
Your pet's profile lives safely in your account, not on the tag itself — so nothing is lost. Get in touch and we'll help you link a replacement tag to the same profile.
